FAQ
How long does an export take?
About 30–60 s on an iPhone for a 30-second 1080p video. The first export in a new area is slower while map tiles download; 4K takes several times longer.
Does it work offline?
Reading and refining the route happens on the device, but drawing the map needs tiles. Areas you've shown before stay cached for a while.
Where is the video saved?
In Photos on iPhone, and in the Movies folder of your gallery on Android. If saving fails, allow Routovie to add to your photos in system settings.
Is there audio?
No. Overlay it on your drive footage or music in a video editor.
Why doesn't it ask for location permission?
Routovie never uses the phone's GPS; routes come from the GPX file.
Can it read GoPro videos directly?
Version 1.0 needs a GPX file. Reading MP4s directly is planned.
iPad / Mac?
The iPhone app runs on iPad. There's no Mac version at the moment.
Why is there a map credit on the video?
It's required by the map data licenses (OpenStreetMap / OpenMapTiles, GSI) and stays even after the watermark is removed.
