How routes are refined (GPS jumps and tunnels)

GPS logs contain points that jump between buildings or in tunnels, and clusters where you stopped. Routovie doesn't draw them as-is; on import it:

  • Removes outliers — points that would require an impossible speed from their neighbours.
  • Bridges tunnels — gaps between a tunnel's entrance and exit are reconnected along the road using the map's tunnel data.
  • Cleans stops — points piled up at traffic lights are merged so the line doesn't jitter.
  • Resamples and smooths — evens out point density and smooths the line.

The number of refined segments is shown after import. Version 1.0 has no switch to turn refinement off. Your original GPX file is never modified.
